Book 2 in the Midnight Manor Series
Once upon a time, I thought I’d found my happy ever after. Until she ruined it all.
I’d been on the hunt for four long years, and I finally found her.
I planned the perfect revenge. Kidnapping Rapsody on the day she was set to marry another man and forcing her to face my wrath while trapped in the confines of my
family’s gothic manor.
Despite my desire to punish her, there is still an undeniable pull between us. But as the walls of the manor close in around us, we both have to confront the truth. Can we trust each other, or will my dark past consume us both?

Before I begin, I would like to thank P. Rayne, their team, and Valentine PR for sending me an arc of Shattered Vows in exchange for a fair and honest review.
I always question my personal sanity when I read a dark romance. Especially one with a kidnapping trope.
Why do I like these books so much?
I mean, let's be real. If it happened in real life, I wouldn't be okay with it. But in terms of fiction? I love it.
Shattered Vows is the first Rapunzel inspired book I've read. I wasn't sure how it would work when I read the synopsis, but I like how P. Rayne writes a story that isn't a retelling, but more like big ol' nods to the story. It doesn't overpower the plotline of Shattered Vows, which is greatly appreciated.
While I loved this book - I couldn't put it down - there were some differences from the first book that stood out to me. Specifically, it was missing the creepiness that the first book had. While the setting was the same gothic mansion, with the blinding fog, knowing what goes on in the house and who the mysterious men are changes the overall feel of this series.
I'm not upset about it, but it's something I definitely noticed.
Shattered Vows is a great second book in this series. It's just as dark and steamy as the first. Maybe even more steamy than the first. If you are looking for a dark romance, with some fun nods to Rapunzel, Shattered Vows will do it for you. And the hint for the next book sounds like it's going to be a wild ride!
Coming soon after release on May 9th, 2024.
