Book 2 in the Luna Duet

I made the worst mistake of my life when I was twenty-two.

I let love and fear destroy everything I ever wanted, and now I have a choice to make.

Run and hide, or stay and face the consequences.

I'd always known I wasn't allowed to love her.

I'd always accepted that I wasn't allowed to keep her.

But that didn't stop me.

I broke every rule and choked on every secret to have her.

The only problem is, those secrets aren't just hunting me anymore, they've found me.

I can't run.

I can't hide.

For a moment, I had it all. I had all my dreams and the girl I would kill for.

But now, I have to pay the price.

I have to pay...

And I won't survive.

Before I begin on this wild ride, I would like to thank Valentine PR and Pepper Winters for sending me an arc of Cor Amare in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Holy. Shit.

Cor Amare is one of the most intense books I have ever read.

I thought I was prepared for this book after Lunamare, but I. Was. Not.

What I was prepared for was phenomenal writing, and that is what I got in Cor Amare.

Phenomenal.

Pepper Winters built up the tension for this book perfectly in Lunamare. So much so that I was legitimally nervous reading. The first part of the book was so blissfully happy that I found myself putting it down often because I was scared. I was scared of what was to come.

And for good reason.

Cor Amare is dark. I thought Lunamare was dark, but Cor Amare makes that look like a romcom.

It was intense. It was hard to read. Brutal. Emotionally devastating. I hurt for these characters and their pain. Whether it was emotional, or physical, I genuinely hurt for them. Pepper Winters didn't only write a story so beautiful and heart wrenching, but she created characters that stayed with me long after reading. Such deeply layered characters that made them feel real. And not just the main characters, but the side characters as well.

I know you are probably wondering why I am telling you you need to read this book. Why read a book that makes you bawl as I did? Why push yourself to feel the full spectrum of emotion, and put yourself through the sometimes brutal story? Because it's worth it.

It's worth every gasp of shock.

Every tear.

Every grimace.

Every smile.

Pepper Winters Luna duology is a masterpiece. Dark romance often doesn't have the strongest writing, and is written purely for shock value, but Pepper Winters proved with this duology that just because a story is darker in nature, it doesn't mean there isn't substance behind it. The Luna Duology is, I can say with confidence, one of the best stories I have ever read, and I suspect will stay with me for a long time. If the triggers don't scare you off, I insist you read these books now.
