Book 1 in the Sins of the Fathers Series

Maddox – Mad Dog – White hates everything the name Vitiello stands for, after he witnessed his father and his men getting butchered by the Capo of the Italian mob in their territory.

Raised by his uncle, the president of the Tartarus MC, Maddox is destined to follow in his footsteps. Now their chapter is on the rise again, but for their ultimate triumph they need to destroy the Vitiello empire. And what better way to do it than to steal the spoilt Vitiello princess and break her piece by piece until her father begs for mercy.

Known as the spoilt princess of New York, Marcella Vitiello grew up in a golden cage. If your father is the most feared man in New York, people gift you with reverence.

Destined to marry the boyfriend approved by her father, Marcella is sick of being treated like an untouchable porcelain doll.

She resents the life forced upon her by her family until everything she took for granted is ripped from her. Where she’s now, her name doesn’t bring awe, only pain and humiliation.

If you’ve grown up in a high castle, the fall is all the deeper.

Sins of the fathers have a way of catching up…who’s going to bleed for them?

I'm a sucker for Cora Reilly. Seriously. I went from not sure if I liked her books, to LOVING them. By Sin I Rise is no different. I really, really enjoyed it. Not sure what that says about me when I openly admit to enjoying a kidnapping romance, but oh well! Fiction my friends. Fiction.

So one of the things I like about this book is how different the parents treat their children - and therefore, how much stronger their children are. In this book, we focus on Luca and Aria's oldest daughter, Marcella, and Maddox, the VP of the Tartarus MC. There is a big difference between Marcella, and her mother. Marcella, while protected, she has choice. She has more freedom. She is educated. But more importantly - she is fierce. She might not be physically strong, but damn she is mentally and emotionally strong. And I think that is why I liked this book - because Marcella isn't some meek woman that can be easily corrupted. And Maddox, he was what Marcella was looking for in a man. Someone not afraid of her father. As for Maddox, as much as I didn't want him to kill Luca, I totally understood why he wanted to. And yeah ... Maddox isn't a good guy ... but I don't think any of the guys are in these books.

If the rest of the series is as good as this one, I think I will really enjoy this series.

My dad was the best dad in the world.

Marcella: “I love you, Dad. I won’t ever leave you. I’ll live with you and Mom forever.”

Dad kissed my temple.

Luca: “And I love you, princess.” I straightened, then turned around to show off my new dress to Amo.

Marcella: “What do you think?”

He gave a shrug but his eyes remained worried.

Amo: “Looks good.”

Marcella: “Good?”

I asked.

Marcella: “I want to look hot.”

Amo cocked an eyebrow.

Amo: “You know fucking well how you look, and I won’t call my sister hot.” I shoved his chest. He didn’t budge.

Marcella: “I’m fine.”

I tossed my hair back.

Marcella: “Now let’s show New York’s male population what they’re never going to get.”

Amo: “You’re so fucking vain.”

Marcella: “Says Mr. Vanity.” Maddox: “Fuck, Snow White, let me eat that royal pussy.”

I raised one eyebrow.

Marcella: “Only if it shuts you up.” Finally, her gaze returned to me. The smile she gave me was bitter.

Marcella: “This is what you wanted, huh? Bringing a Vitiello to tears.”

Maddox: “The wrong Vitiello. Even if I’ve never seen a woman who can cry prettier than you, I never wanted your fucking tears.” Luca: “I’ll offer to exchange myself for our daughter. It’s me they want, not her.”

Aria’s expression became unexpectedly fierce.

Aria: “Save our daughter and kill those men. They can’t survive or we’ll never be safe. You’re the strongest man I know. Show them, and don’t you dare not come back to me.” Matteo: “Maddox White, do you want him dead?”

I was taken aback by Matteo’s directness but I shouldn’t have been surprised.

Marcella: “No,”

I said, a truth I couldn’t even admit to myself so far.

Matteo: “Your dad won’t like it, and me neither. He means trouble.”

Marcella: “You always say Gianna is trouble and that you like trouble. Why can’t I?”

Matteo chuckled.

Matteo: “You shouldn’t use me as an example for your life choices.” I stepped closer to him, smiling darkly.

Marcella: “I have darkness running in my veins. I am my father’s daughter, don’t ever underestimate me because I’m a woman. Being a woman doesn’t mean I’m not strong. And trust me when I say that nothing you did will leave a scar. Your name and family will long be forgotten while mine will rule over the East and hunt down every biker affiliated to Tartarus.” Luca: “Step back,”

Dad ordered me. I didn’t. Instead, I grabbed Maddox’s neck and kissed him harshly before whispering against his lips,

Marcella: “Make him bleed for what he did to me.”

I pulled my earring off to remind him, then lifted my hair to reveal the ugly tattoo. Maddox leaned forward, pressing a hot kiss to the tattoo.

Maddox: “You are truly your father’s daughter, Snow White, and a true queen if there ever was one. And if this is what it takes to prove my love and loyalty to you, then I’ll do it.” Marcella: “Some people think women can’t be cruel. I think we’re just more creative when it comes to cruelty. Enjoy the pain at the hands of your own flesh and blood.”
